A story sequencing and retelling pack following SKILL intervention methods (Supporting Knowledge In Language and Literacy) and based on 4 familiar stories: The very Hungry Caterpillar, Room on the Broom, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
In the A5 popper bag: Baseboard Sequencing cards backed with card in pairs to show First/Next, Next/Next, Next/Next, Next/Last. There is a set of 8 sequencing pictures for each story with minimal text on each, measuring approximately 9cm x 9cm.
In the A4 popper bag: Story Elements activities based on Phase 1 of the SKILL intervention. These aim to teach children the 8 story elements using icons and a question prompt for each element plus picture prompts for each of the 4 stories. Language is to be modelled by the adult and recorded where possible, ensuring each expression answers the relevant question. These prompts are recommended to be faded. Included in this popper bag are “Let’s Tell the Story” Baseboard with whiteboard pen plus an A4 Baseboard for each story that shows picture prompts for each story element plus a matching set of 8 story element cards.
All baseboards are laminated using Fellowes Gloss laminating sheets, which can be written on with the whiteboard pen as necessary - or photocopied for multiple use for each child.
Finally there is an A4 advice sheet with tips on how to use these resources, and everything fits into an A4 zipped bag labelled with a brown parcel tag.
