Product Details

Brick Boxes in 4 colours + 12 mini toys + photo symbol resources for picture exchange and games including ‘I want..’ ‘It’s a ..’ and ‘Where’s the ..?’

There are 4 square boxes shaped as a YELLOW BRICK, a RED BRICK , a BLUE BRICK and a GREEN BRICK. The bricks can be stacked. Each brick box measures approximately 4.5cm length x 4.5cm width x 4cm height (internally) and is suitable for containing small objects of these dimensions.

There are 12 mini fidget toys included in this pack: 4 finger puppet MONSTERS, 4 bouncy BALLS, and 4 mini SLINKIES - each set in different colours or shapes. All the toys fit into a small canvas bag to keep out of sight until used in the games.

NB: THE TOYS MAY VARY SLIGHTLY (colour/type of ball usually) BUT ALL THE PHOTO RESOURCES WILL MATCH.

ALL the toys in this pack have the CE marking. Be aware that all the toys are very small so are not suitable for children under the age of 3 or those who like to explore toys by placing in their mouth.

The brick boxes and toys in their bag fit into an A4 zipped bag labelled with a brown parcel tag for easy storage and portability.

There is an A4 baseboard with matching photo symbols for the 12 toys, each with a simple written label - these can be used as a requesting activity, but also fit onto the game baseboards; there is an A5  ‘I WANT..’ baseboard with matching photo symbols for the 4 different coloured bricks.

There is an A5 ‘What’s inside?’ game baseboard to promote turn-taking and commenting with a separate ‘LOOK! IT’S A ..’ sentence starter strip; and there is an A5 ‘What’s missing?’ game baseboard to promote turn-taking by hiding toys and asking  with a separate ‘WHERE’S THE ..?’ sentence starter strip. Both the game baseboards include instructions at the top to ‘close your eyes’ while toys are hidden, then to ‘open your eyes’.

Finally there is a double-sided A5 page of tips for using these resources in all of these activities and games, including advice on supporting children to ask for HELP with a separate ‘Help’ picture symbol. All the picture resources are laminated using non-reflective Matt plastic and are attached to baseboards using Velcro. All the picture resources fit into an A4 popper bag, which fits in turn into the A4 zipped bag with the toys.

This resource is suitable for work with individuals and for groups of up to 4 children with delayed language or with autism.

This a resource I highly recommend for encouraging early social use of language: requesting, commenting, asking for information, giving instructions and taking turns.
