Bugs in the Garden 3WL Prepositions Pack

CATERPILLAR, SNAIL, SPIDER, BEE, GRASSHOPPER, DRAGONFLY, IN, ON, UNDER, BEHIND, IN FRONT OF, NEXT TO

The garden bugs are brand new toy counters made by ‘Learning Resources’. There are 6 figures each in a different colour: a caterpillar, snail, spider, bee, grasshopper and dragonfly; they are made from good quality plastic and are nice to hold. NB: The colours vary in each pack but the photos match.

The watering can and bucket are made from metal (NB the bucket has some sharp edges which can be folded down), and the flowerpot is terracotta: these containers are brand new ‘wedding favour’ objects. All the miniature objects fit into a clear storage box, and come with a square of green fur fabric ‘grass’.

There is an object-picture matching lotto with 9 photos to match to the pictures as well as the 9 miniature objects.

There are 9 preposition lottos each with 6 matching pictures. 

(NB: the preposition lottos and matching cards all use the pictures shown in the object-picture matching activity, so you may need to keep the bugs on the matching lotto picture as a reference.)

The 3 red-backed lotto boards feature the SPIDER, SNAIL and CATERPILLAR with the prepositions IN, ON, UNDER; the 3 yellow-backed lotto boards feature the BEE, GRASSHOPPER and DRAGONFLY and the prepositions BEHIND, IN FRONT OF, NEXT TO; the 3 blue-backed lotto boards feature a mixture of all 6 bugs and all 6 prepositions.

The lotto pictures are also used separately as instructions e.g. ‘put the SNAIL UNDER the WATERING CAN’.

These lottos are designed to help your child learn to understand and use language at the 3 word level (‘put the SPIDER ON the BUCKET’, ‘put the GRASSHOPPER BEHIND the FLOWERPOT’).

All the visual resources are laminated. The lotto boards, matching pictures and tips all fit into a sturdy A5 zipped bag, labelled with a brown parcel tag.
