From Head to Toe Colourful Semantics Book Pack with Gorilla Puppet

The paperback book is brand new: it measures 30cm x 23cm (fits into an A4 wallet) and has 24 pages featuring different animals doing actions with parts of their body, encouraging children to copy actions starting with their heads (turn your head) and ending with their toes (wiggle your toe).

The Gorilla Hand Puppet is brand new, measures 30cm tall x 25cm wide (arms outstretched) and fits either an adult’s or a child’s hand. It is used to act out pages of the story or in simple Simon Says games alternating between child/adult and puppet e.g. “bend YOUR neck”, “wave GORILLA’S hand”, “raise YOUR shoulders”, “turn GORILLA’S head”, “wiggle YOUR toe”, “stamp GORILLA’S feet” etc.

The picture resources are newly made and follow the colour scheme of ‘Colourful Semantics’ to support children using and understanding 3 word level sentences of the type:

subject (orange) - verb (yellow) - object (green) e.g. the GIRAFFE BENDS its NECK, and

verb (yellow)- possessive (spikey shape) - object (green) e.g. CLAP the GORILLA’S HANDS.

There are 2 sentence strips, 1 set of colour-coded question cards, and 39 matching colour-coded pictures: 15 subjects (coded with an orange dot), 10 verbs (coded with a yellow dot), 12 objects (coded with a green dot) and 2 possessives (‘your’, ‘gorilla’s’) -coded with a spikey dot).

These resources help your child to use and understand the following words for animals, actions, and parts of the body:

The pictures will help your child to make sentences to comment on what they can see in the book, and to give simple ‘Simon Says’ instructions. Everything fits into an A4 zipped bag, labelled with a brown parcel tag for convenient storage and portability.
