This pack uses ‘Colourful Semantics’ theory to support Early Years Maths Targets as follows:

EYFS Maths Targets Numbers N8 (30-50 months), N15, N16, N20, N23 (40-60 months): Compares 2 groups of objects, saying when they have the same number; Recognises numerals 1-5; counts up to 3 or 4 objects; selects the correct numeral to represent 1-5; uses the language of ‘more’ or ‘fewer’ to compare 2 sets of objects.

The pack helps children to use and understand the following words/concepts:

one, two, three, four, five, the same number, more, fewer; apple, strawberry, banana.

There is a toy trolley and 15 fruit counters: 5 each of apples, bananas and strawberries.

There are 6 colour-block question pictures : orange-Who?, yellow-What doing?, cloud shape - What like? (How many?), green - What?, blue-Where?, purple rectangle - joining words e.g. “and”.

There are six different 4-part colour coded sentence strips with colour-coded pictures to match as follows: 1 subject card (I), 3 action cards (put, see, want), 8 number cards, 3 object cards, 3 place cards and 1 joining word card (and).

There is a baseboard with 2 plates drawn on it and 22 picture instructions with different amounts of bananas, apples or strawberries on each plate.

The visual resources are used to give instructions using the toy trolley, fruit counters and plates baseboard.

The fruit counters come in a small bag and fit with the toy trolley into an A5 zipped bag, labelled with a brown parcel tag. The visual resources and tips fit into an A4 popper bag, also labelled with a brown parcel tag for convenient storage and portability.

This pack will help your child learn some maths concepts and take turns commenting, requesting and giving instructions using 4 word sentences, supported by colour-coding. Highly recommended for children with delayed language and children with autism.
