‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ Hardback Book + single pictures of 6 objects + location cards of Jack and the Giant + 24 picture instruction cards + Story Sequencing Baseboard strips with 18 matching pictures + Colourful Semantics baseboard with 8 colour-coded question words and 39 matching colour-coded pictures.


The Hardback Book is a brand new Ladybird book, measures approximately 19cm x 19cm and has 24 pages.

There are 6 objects attached to a baseboard with Velcro (golden and silver coins, harp, and hen with eggs), and 2 location cards (A5 size, backed in card) of Jack with his sack and table and the Giant with his sack and table, with Velcro to indicate on the table or in the sack. There are 24 picture instructions showing the 6 objects in different places.
There is also an advice sheet to support using these games with children at the 2 Word Level, 3 Word Level, and 4 Word level.
These resources are designed to support understanding and use of words up to the 4 word level e.g. ‘put the SILVER HARP in JACK’S SACK’, put the GOLDEN COINS on the GIANT’S TABLE’ etc.

All the above picture resources are laminated in non-reflective Matt plastic, and fit into an A5 popper bag.

The Story Sequencing Baseboard is 6 strips of 3 pictures, attached with treasury tags so it can be folded. It comes with 18 matching single pictures, each measuring 5cm x 5cm.

The Colourful Semantics Baseboard has a box for placement of 1 of the story pictures, a strip of 4 boxes underneath with velcro on (for the adult to prompt with the velcro’d question pictures), and a strip of 4 boxes for the child to place the appropriate colour-coded pictures.
The colour-coding used comes from the most recent and widely-used ‘Colourful Semantics’ theory:
subject (orange ‘Who?) - verb (yellow -‘What doing?’) - object (green - ‘What?’) - place (blue -‘Where?’) - indirect object (pink - ‘To who?’) - adjective (cloud shape - ‘What like?’) - time (brown- ‘When?’) - adverb (black - ‘How?’)

There are 39 colour-coded pictures to place onto these strips: 6 x subjects, 11 x verbs, 8 x objects, 3 x places, 6 x adjectives, 2 x adverbs, 2 x time and 1 x indirect object.

These resources are designed to support children to sequence the events of a story, and to make 4 word sentences to describe each stage of the story.

These picture resources fit into an A4/A5 popper bag.

All the picture resources, the advice sheet, and the book fit into an A4 size zipped bag, labelled with a brown parcel tag.
