Thomas Hide and Seek 3 Word Level and Colourful Semantics Pack

“Thomas & Friends Hide-and-Seek” book + colour-coded sentence strips and squares with matching colour-coded pictures + tips plus a 3 word level velcro’d activity to help your child understand and use words for Thomas and his friends, prepositions, colours and farm animals, and to help form a range of sentences.

The book is a brand new board book: it measures 7” by 7” and has 5 double pages with flaps to lift, featuring a simple story about Thomas looking for his friends.

The first activity is in its own popper bag - and is a commenting activity using the pages of the book. There are 4 colour-coded strips and 5 separate colour-coded squares. These follow the ‘Colourful Semantics’ colours: orange = subject (who?), yellow = verb (what doing?), green = object (what?), blue = place (where?) and cloud shape = adjective (what like?/how many?/what colour?). There are 47 matching single pictures (9 different subjects, 3 different verbs, 16 different objects, 3 different prepositions, 5 different places and 11 different adjectives). These can be used either on the appropriate sentence strip or on the squares to describe every page in the book.

These resources are designed to support children using 3 and 4 key word sentences e.g. THOMAS IS LOOKING FOR FOR HIS FRIENDS, DUNCAN IS HIDING BEHIND THE WATER TOWER. The advice sheet lists 30 sentences you can prompt for, grouped by the page in the book.

The second activity is in its own popper bag and is a 3 word level understanding and expression activity, using velcro’d characters and a railway scene baseboard, with colourful semantics support for giving instructions of the kind ‘Put Thomas in the countryside’ etc.

There is a separate advice sheet, with guidance on using the resources to boost your child’s speech and language.

All the picture resources are laminated using non-reflective Matt plastic.

The picture resources and advice sheets fit each into an A4 popper bag, and everything fits inside an A4 zipped bag, labelled with a brown parcel tag ,for convenience and durability.
